our prices also include the following:

Accommodation

Each volunteer is accommodated in the home of a local family, couple or adult. Host-families are carefully selected to be caring and welcoming and all accommodation is checked regularly by our overseas staff. Accommodation is only accepted if it is clean, hygienic and comfortable. In some countries, instead of with host families, volunteers may stay in hostels, flats or other types of accommodation which are also included in the cost of the placement.

Food

Projects Abroad is responsible for providing all meals; we know that plenty of good food is important! We assign a portion of the volunteer's payment to their host family with which to buy enough food for three meals per day which tend to be traditional dishes; sometimes host families prepare western-style meals and vegetarian food can be requested.

Safety and Back-up

With more than 150 trained staff throughout the world, we believe our in-country support to be unparalleled. In every destination we have an office run by an experienced Overseas Director trained in the UK, as well as several members of staff who can be contacted 24 hours a day and are responsible for the general well-being of the volunteers. They can also act as a middleman for any problems with placements or accommodation and are a point of contact with the UK office.

Insurance

All volunteers are automatically covered by our comprehensive medical and travel insurance no matter where they are from or where they are going. This insurance includes repatriation for certain cases. If a volunteer falls ill, our overseas staff will be on hand to assist with hospital arrangements and insurance liaison, and will, of course, make sure that the patient is comfortable. Insurance can be extended on request to cover any further travel a volunteer may wish to do.

Airport pick-up

All volunteers are picked up at the airport by a member of our staff and transported to their host family. At the end of each placement, transport back to the airport is also included in the price.
